        Douglas College finishes 11-0 on season but was placed on probation for using 19-year-old Shawn Hartley on the team in qualifying for the Canada Winter Games. Hartley wasn’t enrolled at Douglas. The move had been approved by Basketball BC but wasn’t by the Totem Conference. The Royals were placed on probation by the conference, while also citing the participation of transfer Paul Bernard in practices as a violation of league rules. The Royals (coached by Steve Beauchamp, assisted by Richard Norman) also included Bob Aston, Ryan Brown, Glen Cote, Rodney Gettel, Shaun Hartley, Rich Mesich, Mark Osachoff, Chris Schriek, Stephen Todd, Paul Verret, Randy Stevens, Wayne Johnson, Andrew Conway and Rod Gettel.

        In the semis, held at Trinity Western, the Langara Falcons (then Vancouver College) whipped the Trinity Western Spartans 80-47. Doug Devries led the Spartans with 10.

        In the other semi, the Fraser Valley Cascades defeated the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack (then the Cariboo Sun Demons) 73-58 as Mal Gill scored 20, Reg Wiebe 15, along with 13 boards, and Sean Beasley 10, along with 10 boards. The Cascades led 36-24 at the half. Phil Henderson led the Sun Demons with 12. Dino Klarich added 12 and Pete Jory 12.

        In the bronze medal match, Cariboo dispatched the Trinity Western Spartans 73-65 as Phil Henderson scored 28. Fraser McCulloch led the Spartans with 13. Doug Devries added 12. The Spartans (coach Tim Teer, assistant Bob Lee, manager Brian Appel) also included Nevin Gleddie, Carl Mattei, Magdy Ghobrial, Kim Crockett, Dennis Meiners, Linley Steeves, Mike Nesbitt, Rob Elgie, Mike Sprenger, Clark Gruey and Joel Janzen.

        In the final, the Langara Falcons defeated the Fraser Valley Cascades 87-72 as tournament MVP Kevin Korol scored 22, Willie Gilbert 17, Mike Potkonjak 13 and Willis Parnell 11. Reg Wiebe led the Cascades with 16. Jay Pankratz added 16.
