That’s important because if you see a team that’s really down afterwards you know it’s because they didn’t play up to their expectations.” The Hawks took an early 16-9 lead but their front line soon itself in foul trouble and Fanshawe rallied to a 36-31 lead at the half. Corrine Smith’s foul trouble hurt, Henderson said. “She’s our big rebounder and very strong defensive player.” The Falcons began pressing in the second half and quickly their margin to 52-37. “Where they actually beat us was when we were pressing,” said Julie Irving. “If one person didn’t get over quickly enough, they just threw it right over because they have two really quick guards who can go past us.” Henderson said “we were playing a team that had four all-stars from this year and two from last year, that weren’t even all-stars this year. It’s like playing an all-star team. They had a little too much fire-power for us.” Tara Petrachenko said “we’re very happy. It’s just like Team Canada (hockey)” winning the silver at the Olympics.
