        In the West semis (to determine the division’s second representative in the provincials), the Mohawk Mountaineers defeated the Niagara Knights 54-27 as Sheri Booker, Joan McCaulay and Karen Kimmins each scored 10. Diane Scheon led Niagara with 14. The Knights (coached by Bob Bedesky) also included Doris Sukurs, Diana Schoen, Dorothy Bylhowver, Monica Rose, Barb Campino, Joan Fast, Wanda Mallabar, Maria Carboni and Diane Smith. …………………………………………………… In the other West semi, the Sheridan Bruins whipped the Fanshawe Falcons 68-31. The Falcons included Jill Burke, Linda Wilson, Gabrielle Corrente, Karrie Rosaasen, Dawn Went, Sue Edwards, Nellie Vandermeyden, Lorna Allen, Debbie Dragonette, Joanne Healy, Helena Kolasa, Cynthia Thyssen, Kim Erdelic and Barb Stanley. …………………………………………………… In the West final (for the second berth), the Sheridan Bruins clubbed the Mohawk Mountaineers 63-28. The Mountaineers included Shari Booker, Joan McCaulay, Karen Kimmins, Sandra Racicot, Virginia Doxtador, Mary Ann Smart, Gloria Hanna, Anne Weinhold, Leanne Fischer, Leslie Smith and Sylvia Paul.

        In the provincial semis, held in Ottawa, the George Brown Huskies dumped the Sheridan Bruins 57-48 as April English scored 22, Mary Boyd 12, Rose Weber 9, Diane Pritchard 8 and Jacqui Shantz 4. Pullan Hanson paced the Bruins with 15. Ronnie Markovic added 14, Peggy Graham 11, Nada Skrlj 6 and Debbie Newman 2.

        In the other semi, the St. Clair Saints dusted the Rouyn-Northwestern Les Gaillards 54-39 as Cathy Craig scored 11, Mary Peltier 8, Pat Donlon 7, Cathy Rigg 7, Patty Sovran 6, Maureen McKrow 6, Bernie Vriends 4, Andrea Allen 2 and June Wachna 2. Saints coach John Martel told the Windsor Star that “they had us back to a nine-point lead, then Maureen (McKrow) popped in three long shots in a row to get us going again.” Clair Mazuhelli led Les Gaillards with 17. Nicole Turpin added 14, Francine St. Jean 5 and Lorraine Falardeau 3.

        In the bronze medal match, the Rouyn-Northwestern Les Gaillards dispatched the Sheridan Bruins 55-47 as Clair Mazuhelli scored 24, Nicole Turpin 13, Francine St. Jean 10, Lorraine Falardeau 4 and Danielle Trottier 4. Ronnie Markovic paced the Bruins with 25. Debbie Newman added 8, Pullan Hanson 7 and Peggy Graham 7. The Bruins also included Nada Skrlj, Teresa Grygorcewicz, Carol Sybenga, Robin Woodward, Ghislaine Henderson and Jane Montgomery.

        In the final, the George Brown Huskies defeated the St. Clair Saints 81-62 as April English scored 30, Mary Boyd 29, Dianne Pritchard 16, Jacqui Shantz 3, Eileen McKee 2 and Fong-Chen Liu 1. Andy Allen led the Saints with 10. Mary Peltier added 9, Cathy Craig 8, Bernie Vriends 7, Cathy Rigg 6, June Wachna 6, Shelley McFadden 5, Patty Sovran 5, Angie Mele 4 and Maureen McKrow 2. Saints coach John Martel told the Windsor Star that April English and Mary Boyd “were both a lot taller than our girls. We held our own rebounding but once they started hitting from outside, we were in trouble. We couldn’t afford to play our big girls outside and they just kept shooting and hitting over our smaller forwards.”
