In May/65, the province introduced legislation establishing colleges of applies arts & technology. By 67, 20 had been created.

        On June 9-1967 the OCAA was founded by seven original institutions: Algonquin; Centennial; Fanshawe; George Brown; Mohawk; Northern-Kirkland Lake and St. Clair.

        In the first season, 1967-68, seven colleges established basketball teams. Within six years, there were 27 members, including a CEGEP, Rouyn-Noranda, which later rejoined Quebec as College Nord-Ouest. Ten colleges joined the fold in 1968 and by 1971, there were 30.
