In the semi-final, the 2nd-seeded Providence University College Pilots clipped the 3rd-seeded Universite de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges 64-54 after leading 14-12, 27-26 and 49-38 at the quarters. Pilot player of the game Joshua Armstrong drained a trey with under a minute to play to ice the win. “We have faced adversary all season and we found a way to win in the end,” Armstrong said. Pilots coach Pierre Durbreuil said “we were a bit rusty with not the best practices and knew this was going to be a tough team to play. Our team showed up and played some great D to get the win.” Rouges coach Christian Mouné called it “frustrating. I feel we were right there but as a first-year team, we got a feel of the competition needed to compete but I am proud of the whole team’s effort.” Michael Lawal was chosen player of the game for the Rouges. Joshua Armstrong paced the Pilots with 19 on 7-20 from the floor, 2-7 from the arc, 3-4 from the line, 10 boards and 2 steals.         In the final, the 2nd-seeded Providence University College Pilots stunned the top-seeded Canadian Mennonite University Blazers 84-60 after leading 17-10, 47-31 and 66-47 at the quarters. The Blazers rallied no closer than 15. Pilots player of the game (championship MVP) Riley Paul said “it was so good to bring this title back to the program. This was a great group of guys. We battled adversary all season long and everything clicked in the end.” Pilots coach Pierre Dubreuil said “it was who wanted it more and we stayed composed and PUC basketball for the full 40 minutes. All credit to the players!” Blazers coach Scott Martin said “we didn’t start well. All credit to Providence as they played well tonight. We took a break from COVID in the second half and it seemed we peaked early and never played our best since.” Riley Paul paced the Pilots with 28 on 12-21 from the floor, 3-7 from the arc, 1-1 from the line, 15 boards, 8 assists and 2 blocks.
