There were only two teams running a basketball program, Red River and Assiniboine.
In the sudden death final, the Red River Rebels defeated the Assiniboine College 63-52 after leading 38-32 at the half. The Rebels played in the seven-team Winnipeg junior men’s league (two of those teams folded before the season began). The Rebels were coached by John Loewen, who a year earlier as the jayvee coach at the University of Calgary and who played with Alberta’s Summer Games team.
