SAIT’s Eddie Richardson is chosen national player of the year. Richardson led the ACAC in scoring with a 23.67 ppg, while shooting .408 from beyond the arc, .518 from the field and .572 from the line. He also nabbed 7.75 rpg and dished 5.58 apg, finished fourth in league play in each category. “It’s quite an honour. I never thought I’d be recognized,” said Richardson. “Without my coach helping me and my teammates stepping up and playing the way they played, I wouldn’t be able to get this award. I’d trade the award in just to play in the nationals though. I look at the competition and I know we could have done well here. … I’m sure when I get old, I’ll appreciate it more. Right now, I’m still kind of bitter about my team not doing better. We had so much potential.”

NAIT’s Marc Dobell is chosen coach of the year. Dobell guided the Ooks to a 22-2 record and an ACAC title.
