Mount Saint Vincent’s Kimberly Fralick becomes the first Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association player to win the national MVP award. “I’m very, very surprised,” she says. “There are 10 all-Canadians overall and they nominate five for MVP and I was nominated last year and the year before. But this year, I just did not expect to win. But then when they announced it, I was like: are you sure? But it feels great that all the hard work has paid off. I was a little bit overwhelmed, but excited.” The Lunenburg native and three-time ACAA MVP added that she hoped it gave the loop a bit of recognition. Fralick led the Mystics to a 23-1 league record and an overall record of 33-2. “At MSVU she has won MVP and Female Athlete of the year in 2002 in 2003. Kim possesses an incredible work ethic and team spirit that is inspiring to all around her. Kim is one of the reasons, if not the reason, that our program has had success over the past three seasons. Her leadership as team captain and supportive nature helps her teammates overcome any difficulties they may experience during the season,” said Mystics coach Dyrick McDermott.

Montmorency’s Guillaume Giroux is chosen coach of the year. Giroux led Montmorency to a 13-1 record in QSSF play and the past two national titles.
