        In the quarterfinals, held at Calgary’s Mount Royal College, the SAIT Trojans smacked the Briercrest Bible Clippers 80-70.

        The Seneca Braves dispatched the Mount Royal Cougars 83-69.

        The Dawson Blues whipped the Red River CC Rebels 79-65.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Malaspina Mariners dusted the University of King’s College 96-75 as player of the game Kurt Kelly scored 16, Mike Davidson 12, Tony Dendes 10, Wally Jung 10, Dave Brown 9, along with 11 boards, Dan Steffes 8, along with 13 boards, Ian Pettersen 4, Jim Jordbro 4, Ron Doman 4, Michael Goulden 3 and Pat Battie 1. The Mariners outrebounded King’s 52-16. Mariners coach Murray Hall told Canadian Press “we got the ball inside and used our size advantage.”

        In the bronze quarterfinals, the Red River Rebels defeated the University of King’s College 58-51.

        In the other bronze quarterfinal, the Briercrest Bible Clippers dumped the Mount Royal Cougars 90-71.

        In the semis, the S.A.I.T. Trojans defeated the Seneca Braves 69-59.

        In the other semi, the Dawson Blues clipped the Malaspina Mariners 80-69 as Craig Norman scored 25 on 12-17 from the floor, Wayne Yearwood 19 and Biagio Carrese 16. Dan Steffes led the Mariners with 20. Kurt Kelly added 19, Jim Jordbro 5, Ian Pettersen 4, Ron Doman 2 and Mike Davidson 1. Mariners coach Murray Hall told Canadian Press that “we made 17 turnovers in the first half. They played a zone against us and we just didn’t get our shots away. We usually play well against a zone … We weren’t aggressive on the boards. Our big guys didn’t play tough enough. Our guards dind’t through with the points either.”

        In the bronze semis, the Malaspina Mariners defeated the Briercrest Bible Clippers 76-72 as player of the game Mike Davidson scored 25 on 10-12 from the floor.

        In the other bronze semi, the Seneca Braves defeated the Red River Rebels 87-71.

        In the bronze medal match, the Seneca Braves defeated the Malaspina Mariners 67-64. The Braves led 38-35 at the half. Dan Steffes paced the Mariners with 16. Dave Brown added 13. The Mariners (coached by Murray Hall) also included Kurt Kelly, Jim Jordbro, Ian Pettersen, Ron Doman, Mike Davidson, Tony Denes, Wally Jung, Michael Goulden, Pat Battie. Hall told Canadian Press that “I felt we should have won. We had several opportunities from the free throw line and from close in but just couldn’t complete the play. … It was our second game in a two-hour span but we still could have won the bronze if we had played with more intensity.”

        In the final, the SAIT Trojans defeated the Dawson Blues 111-72 as David Joseph scored 22 and Bart De Nooy 22. Giagio Carrese led Dawson with 28. Felix Weakes added 18. SAIT jumped to an early 18-7 lead and never looked back. “You don’t expect a one-sided game like that in a championship final, especially against a team like Dawson,” said Trojans coach Phil Allen. He added that “Especially against a team like Dawson.” He added that his troops shot the ball extremely well (.650) in the first half. SAIT led 61-38 at the break as 6-9 centre Bart DeNooy dominated the boards. “Bart played his best game of the tournament against Dawson.”
