At the start of the season, the Nova Scotia Community College-Truro Titans announced that they were taking a “leave of absence” from the ACAA after just one year of affiliation. “We don’t have enough support from the students,” said athletic director Wilf MacCormack told the Halifax Daily News. “We lacked the interest and commitment from the students, but on their behalf, a lot of the students are commuting, some are married and a number of students are older and we just didn’t have the population to draw from to put viable teams on the courts or fields. … On a number of occasions, we did not even have enough people to play. And it’s a very strong league that’s well-respected. No way could we keep going on and be diverse and maintain reputable status in that league. We tried it for a year and we just decided it would be the best thing for the future to hold off. It was an executive decision. We feel it’s in the best interest of the college, and I personally feel it’s in the best interest of the league.”
