Head coach Rick Plato said the win was retribution for an 84-76 setback to the Hurricanes during the regular season, the Mystics only loss. “We were ready for payback. The boys were into it. Holland College usually scores 80 points and we shut them down. It was pretty much over by the third quarter. We’ve had the best defence in the country all year and we played tough and rebounded well today. … The boys displayed tenacious defensive pressure and executed their offence masterfully. It was a total team victory.” John Caulfield says that “playing Holland in the finals is exactly what we were hoping for because we wanted an opportunity to prove we were the better team. Coach prepared us extremely well for this game and we knew if we executed this game plan, we would be fine. It was one of, if not our best game of the year. … We have a good team. We’re a little smaller this year than any of the other teams I’ve been with but we’re quick and we’re very aggressive on defence. Our bench scores well. We’re very deep this year.” Rob Daley led the Hurricanes with 21. Leo Morris added 11.
