        In the semis, the 2nd-seeded Mount St. Vincent Mystics edged the 3rd-seeded host Mount Allison Mounties 66-60 as Peter Turnbull scored 19 and Jayson Taker 17. Mark Harris scored 17 to lead the Mounties, who were ahead 35-31 at the half. Shaun Alie added 11.

        In the other semi, the top-seeded St. Thomas Tommies dumped the 4th-seeded King’s Blue Devils 90-60 as player of the game Mike Bonnar scored 20, including 4 treys, Shane Butland 14 and Jeff Merrigan 12. Dennis Ashe and Dennis Humphreys each scored 14 to pace the Blue Devils. The Tommies opened with a 15-2 run and led 49-26 at the half.

        In the final, the top-seeded St. Thomas Tommies dumped the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics 76-63 as Shane Butland scored 39, including 5 treys and 8-9 from the line. Fred Connors added 9 and Tim Ross 8, along with 10 boards. Peter Turnbull paced the Mystics with 15. Alan Williams added 14. The Tommies led 36-33 at the half. “It speaks well for the guards (Butland and Matt Bonnar) that they will sacrifice themselves to do the job which has to be done and let the other guys do the scoring,” said St. Thomas coach Dwight Dickinson told the New Brunswick Telegraph-Journal. “I have a lot of respect for guys who do that. They are not selfish.”

        After season, Duane Starratt is appointed Mount Allison men’s basketball coach, replacing Steve Chapman. Starratt was assistant coach for the women for previous four years as well as coach of Oxford High School, boys and girls. He led the girls to the Nova Scotia 4A title in 1996.
