Coach Dwight Dickinson said his troops maintained their poise and overcame adversity. “We had seven rookies on our team and to start out the year with seven rookies and do what we did, it’s just a fantastic feeling.” Craig Sampson led the Mystics with 18. Tommies coach Dwight Dickinson told the New Brunswick Telegraph-Journal that the formula for success was that “we support each other. When you have five players, sometimes six players in double digits, that’s a team effort, not just one guy taking the ball and going to the hoop himself. On defence, we have guys who can pressure the ball and four guys to back him up. … The players are emotionally very high and that can be a good thing and a bad thing. It’s a good thing if they still have confidence. It’s a bad thing if they are still not hungry to win at the next level.”
