Mount Allison dropped down from AUAA after a controversy erupted over alumni payments to players. The league was affiliated with the AUAA on a Tier II basis. St. Thomas won regular season title at the Tier II level.
In the Tier I (Nova Scotia) final, the N.S.A.C. Rams defeated the Nova Scotia Teacher’s College defeated Nova Scotia Technical College x-x.
The four-team league also included University of King’s College and the College of Cape Breton. (King’s and Nova Scotia Tech are not eligible for CCAA nationals because they are degree granting institutions. The league once also included junior varsity teams from Acadia, Dalhousie and Saint Mary’s).

In the Tier II (New Brunswick) semis, the top-seeded St. Thomas Tommies clipped the 4th-seeded Moncton Blue Eagles 85-70. The Blue Eagles (coach Don Grant) included Kevin Kearns, Chris Smith, Rod (Jean?) Aube, Jocelyn Ross, Dave Forges, Dan Rae, Dave Mazerolle, Paul Couturier, Mike Logan, Vince Leblanc, Denis Robichaud, Dan Ross, Jacques Perrlin.
In the other semi, the UNB-Saint John Red Barons defeated the Mount Allison Mounties 76-68. The Mounties included Rich Todd, Norvell McConnell, Jim Macleod, Timmons, Flewelling; Morin; Tagoe, Shea.
In the Tier II (New Brunswick) final, the UNB-Saint John Red Barons stunned the top-seeded St. Thomas Tommies 93-76 as Leo Coyle scored 28, Keith Raynes 14, Rick Keleher 14, Lou MacDonald 12, Cossey 6, Cherry 4, D Moore 3 and R Moore 2. Hall led the Tommies with 24. Theriault added 21, Macneil 16, Le Cour 6, Palmer 5 and Flanagan 4.
