In the final, the Olds Broncos nipped the Keyano Huskies 54-51. The Broncos led 16-14 after one quarter and 28-27 at the half. The Huskies led 39-38 after three quarters. Bronco Kyla Adams knotted the score at 46. Brittany Thibeaux gave the Broncos a 51-49 lead on a pair of free throws and then dished the ball to Alli Taylor for a layup to put the nail in the coffin with 44 seconds remaining on the clock. Lake Villa, Illinois-product Brittany Thibeaux was chosen player of the game for the Broncos, while Moiyan Toure earned the laurels for the Huskies. The matchup was a classic contest between the post game of the Broncos and the perimeter game of the Huskies. “It was a coin flip and both teams played well,” said Olds coach Avery Harrison. “Both teams have good guard play and dominant bigs. … Keyano played a heck of a game. We made some mistakes in the final quarter and at nationals we can’t do that. We will have to play consistent for 40 minutes.” Huskies coach Dwayne Vigilance said “naturally, I was disappointed. We didn’t finish the job but at the same time I am excited that we are going to nationals and very proud of what we accomplished this year. There was a lot of pressure being in that final game and the kids dug in and battled through some adversity.” Kristina Bajovic paced Olds with 18 on 8-24 from the floor, 1-5 from the arc, 1-2 from the line, 2 boards and 2 steals.
