        In the other semi, the NAIT Ooks stunned the Lethbridge Kodiaks 72-69. Tied at 59-59 with 7:23 remaining in regulation, the Ooks went on a nine-point run with Shea-Lynn Noyes and Torey Hill scoring to make it 68-59 with 3:48 on the clock. Two three pointers and two free throws by Jacqueline Tollestrup gave the Kodiaks the lead 69-68 at 1:40. With 33 seconds remaining Noyes gives Ooks the lead 70-69. Kodiaks get two shot attempts off before a Railene Hooper bucket with eight seconds remaining iced the win. The Ooks led 26-13 after one quarter and 43-39 at the half. The Kodiaks led 56-49 after three quarters. Torey Hill paced the Ooks with 19 on 7-12 from the floor, 5-5 from the line and 10 boards.         In the bronze medal match between the league’s undefeated regular season divisional champs, the Lethbridge Kodiaks crushed the Lakeland Rustlers 91-61. The Kodiaks ripped off a 15-0 run in the first quarter to take command as their full-court pressure dismantled the Rustlers. The Kodiaks led 18-10, 49-24 and 73-38 at the quarters. Logan Moncks paced the Kodiaks with 25 on 12-21 from the floor, 1-2 from the line, 6 boards and 3 steals.         In the final, the NAIT Ooks nipped the Saint Mary’s University Lightning 69-66 to capture their first title in the 35-year history of the program. “Our defence has carried us all year,” said NAIT Ooks head coach Todd Warnick. “St. Mary’s came out and shot the ball well and we made some adjustments. Once we made some stops and we made some runs, we were able to change the tempo and be where we wanted to be.” Warnick added that Hill and Noyes are “a huge part of our team but we preach a team concept.  At the end of the day it is a team game and teams win. … We had a strong core of eight returnees, seven of which were part of back-to-back (ACAC) bronze medal teams (2012-2014) and five fifth-years. I felt with this group that we could take the next step and evolve in that way. I was pleased with the growth…we just kept building. These are kids that bought into the process and stayed in school.” The Lightning led 25-16 after one quarter and 39-27 at the half. The Ooks led 52-43 after three quarters. Malesha Petterson paced the Ooks with 18 on 5-10 from the floor, 0-2 from the arc, 8-9 from the line, 5 boards and 2 steals. Laura Belisle added 6 on 2-7 from the floor, 2-6 from the arc and 3 boards. Michaela Allen-Guillion added 2 on 1-3 from the floor, 3 assists and 2 steals, while Kassandra Harkema and Sydney Deighton were scoreless. Harkema nabbed 3 boards. The Lightning hit 25-76 (.329) from the floor, 12-39 (.308) from the arc and 4-6 (.667) from the line, while garnering 37 boards, including 7 on the offensive glass, 20 fouls, 18 assists, 15 turnovers, 2 blocks and 10 steals.

        After the season, Jason McLester resigned as coach of the Medicine Hat Rattlers to take a full-time teaching position at the college. He was replaced by Clayton Nielsen, head coach of Keyano from 2009-11. The Huskies participated in the ACAC in 2011, finishing 2-18. “I applied for it really not thinking I would get it, because there are a lot of people that are really qualified,” Nielsen told the Medicine Hat News.
