        In the final, the top-seeded Grant MacEwan Griffins clipped the 2nd-seeded University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings 74-65. The Vikings led 23-15 after one quarter and 36-32 at the half. The Griffins led 55-50 after three quarters. “I expected our team to do well,” said Griffins coach Rob Poole. Bayan Kurd played like “a first-team all-star,” while Megan Wood “is a special player. “She’ll find those opportunities and she will step up when we need her to. … We knew going in that [Emily, Elizabeth and Katheryne] Lowry [from the Kodiaks] would be tough match-ups for us, but I think we did well. … We knew [after the first half] that we had to battle hard. … Olds was an amazing host and it was one of the finest tournaments that we have ever played in. Competition was intense and we were a focused group. If we played consistent basketball and played the type of basketball we are capable of, we would prevail.” Bayan Kurd paced the Griffins with 18 on 8-13 from the floor, 0-3 from the arc, 2-2 from the line, 3 boards and 2 assists.
