The score was knotted at 31 at the half. Lethbridge led 52-41 after three quarters. Kodiaks coach Brad Karren told the Lethbridge Herald that Kayla Lambert “played good defence. She can sometimes be lazy, I mean, she’s an offensive player but we went to a 2-3 zone and she boxed out. She did a good job boxing out and really, that was the key to being a lot more effective on the boards. We were pretty well in the lead the whole game. They hit some big shots late and we got some fouls that made it closer but it was a good game on our part.” Kayla Lambert paced Lethbridge with 28 points and 13 boards. Anne Mercer added 19 points and 13 boards. Paige Bowman scored 12, Natalie Johnson 10, along with 8 boards and 7 assists.         In the final, the SAIT Polytechnic Trojans defeated the Lethbridge Kodiaks 84-72 after leading 26-10, 47-27 and 68-51 at the quarters. “It was definite a total team effort” said coach Donovan Martin. “We came out strong and set the tone.” The Trojans benefited from some hot shooting and some tenacious defense which propelled them to a 20-point half time lead. The Kodiaks showed their champion fight as they outscored the Trojans 45-37 in the second half. “They’re a tough team” said Martin. “They proved that they would never give up but the girls responded well and we were able to hang on for the win. The big difference was our composure at the line. Good teams make their shots down the stretch and in the end that made the difference.” Kim Lee paced SAIT with 38 on 13-19 from the floor, 5-9 from the arc, 7-7 from the line, 6 boards, 3 assists and 7 steals. Rachel Caputo added 11 on 4-11 from the floor, 1-1 from the arc, 2-2 from the line and 4 assists. Brittany Pekar scored 11 on 3-10 from the floor, 5-5 from the line and 8 boards.
