In the postseason semis, held in Calgary, the Medicine Hat Kudus whipped the Lethbridge Kodiettes 57-37. The Kudus led 33-12 at the half. Kudus coach Doug Kept told the Medicine Hat News that his troops “didn’t play all that well offensively.” Pam Mann led the Kudus with 21. Bonnie Gilchrist added 8 and Ava Welsch 7. “It was just a disaster in that first half,” Kodiettes coach Darrell Wall told the Lethbridge Herald. “We just started cold and couldn’t buy a bucket. I think 10 of our first 12 shots bounced off the rim. We were a lot better in the second half, and we really played well the last five or so minutes, and if we could have played like that the whole game we would have quite likely won. The girls went in with great expectations, but we just didn’t have it. I think this Mount Royal gym is a jinx for us. It was Pam Mann who hurt us from the ‘Hat. She played a fabulous game and scored 19 points.” Kathy Brownlee paced the Kodiettes with 10. The Kudus hit 20-52 (.384) from the floor and 12-21 (.521) from the line, while the Kodiettes hit 16-60 (.266) from the floor and 5-8 (.625) from the line.

In the other semi, the Mount Royal Cougars stomped the Camrose Lutheran Vikettes 84-44 as Tracy Lehman scored 14 and Wendy Calvert 13. Lynn Graftaas led the Vikettes with 20.

In the bronze medal match, the Lethbridge Kodiaks clocked the Camrose Lutheran Vikettes 75-64. Kodiettes coach Darrell Wall said Peg Hester, who scored 18 on 9-10 from the floor and pilfered 9 balls, delivered a “super performance. That had to be her best game of the season.” Kathy Brownlee led the Kodiettes with 20. Barb Payne added 11 and Jane Pavka 10. “We were red-hot from outside,” said Wall. “They threw a zone defence at us, but they just couldn’t contain us. It was just an excellent game on our part. It was a good way to close out the season.” The Vikettes included Lynn Graftas, Betty Boettger.

In the final, the Mount Royal Cougars dusted the Medicine Hat Kudus 64-46 as league scoring champ Sherri McNally scored 23 and Susan Scott 13. The Kittens led 33-25 at the half. Pam Mann led the Kudus with 12. Cindy Kromm added 6 and Janis Hirsch 6. “The game was going as expected,” Kudus coach Doug Kempt told the Medicine Hat News. “We were playing man-to-man defence, and then they came at us with a full-court press. That put the heat on and we buried. That was their game plan. We had to go with our smaller girls because two of our taller girls, Mann and Evelyn Dreilich picked up a number of fouls early, and Mount Royal wore us down.”
