In the semis, the Red Deer Queens whipped the SAIT Trojans 57-40 as Laura Swainson scored 20, Lois Hameister 10, while nabbing 12 boards, Chris Graves 7, Marlene Prediger 6, Beth Rainforth 4, Debbie Williams 2, Laurie Christens 2, Robin Pratt 2 and Diane Brasseur 2. Red Deer broke to a 12-2 lead and led 31-14 at the half. Judy Cahoon paced the Trojanettes with 14. Kathy Conroy added 8 and Donna Schuler 8.

In the other semi, the Mount Royal Cougars dusted the Camrose Lutheran Vikings 68-35 (also reported as 65-48) as Gloria Townsend scored 17, Linda Rolheiser 15 and Gayle Bain 14. Barb Paton led the Vikings with 14. Donna Davies added 12.

In the bronze medal match, the SAIT Trojanettes edged the Camrose Lutheran Vikings 51-47 as Kathy Conroy scored 15, Judy Cahoon 11, Donna Schuler 9 and Milke Kimmel 6. Donna Davies led the Vikings with 12. Yvonne Shea added 12, Barb Paton 11 and Jeannette McMillian 6. The Vikings also Carol Ruskowsky.

In the final, the Mount Royal Cougars dispatched the Red Deer Queens 60-54 as Linda Rolheiser scored 16, Gayle Bain 14 Sue Conroy 13, Cathy Stone 10, Kathy Bardgett 4 and Gloria Townsend 3. Cougars coach Reid Olsen told the Calgary Herald “we’re mighty proud of these girls. … The victory also meant the provincial title for us because we didn’t get any challenges out of Lethbridge or elsewhere.” The Cougars led 30-26 at the half and were reduced to four players down the stretch because of foul trouble but still prevailed. Lois Hameister paced the Queens with 17. Laura Swainson added 14, Chris Graves 11, Marlene Prediger 5, Laurie Christensen 4, Debbie Williams 2 and Beth Rainforth 1, along with 13 boards.

 In April, charter member Lethbridge is re-admitted to the ranks after its stint with the university ranks, while Grande Prairie is admitted as a member.
