        In the semis, the University of Lethbridge Bobcats clocked the Red Deer Kings 90-61 after leading 38-36 at the half. “It took the boys a while to realize they had to play without (Dick) DeKlerk,” coach Gary Bowie. DeKlerk had left the team shortly before the playoffs to “complete his schooling.” Merrill Roberts and Peter Price each scored 14 to pace the Bobcats. Ron Hutchinson added 13, Bruce Michelson 12, Mike Slavich 12 and Greg Wright 11. Bill Arnett paced the Kings with 17. Larry Bondy added 16.

        In the other semi, the NAIT Ooks dispatched the University of Calgary Jayvee Colts 74-61 as John Simonson scored 17, Len Sterling 13 and Gary Young 13. Warren Hodgins led the Calgary Jayvees with 12. The Colts also included Don Millham, Paul Gibson.

        In the bronze medal match, the Red Deer Kings thrashed the University of Calgary Jayvee Colts 77-58 as Dave Arnett scored 21, Larry Bondy 13, Bob Vandermeer 13, Chub McPherson 11, Ed Grab 7, Glen Forester 4, Ross Embree 2 and Don Bentz 1. Paul Gibson led the Colts with 20. Dwayne Millham added 11. The Colts also included Phil Stochnoff, Warren Hodgins, Gavin Ellefson, Ted Wallace, Bill Mucklow.

        In the final, the University of Lethbridge Bobcats, who a year earlier had competed as the Kodiaks, edged the NAIT Ooks 64-61 after leading 33-32 at the half. Greg Wright paced the Bobcats with 24. Merril Roberts added 14, Ron Hutchinson 10 and Bruce Michelson 10. John Simonson led the Ooks with 16. Bill Gillman added 14 and Gary Young 12.
