The Kent, Washington-native followed that up wih a layup 25 seconds later and then a trey at 5:20 to make the lead 80-72, and then a layup to make it a 10-point lead. John Smith added back-to-back treys and Tevis five free throws to ensure the Trojans win. “Every one of these guys are awesome; I love them,” said Trojans coach Marty Birky. “Concordia made us fight for everything we got tonight. … I couldn’t be more happy.” Smith called it a “tough tournament. … I haven’t seen that triple teams like that since playing back home in open gyms. It was a gruelling tournament, but it was fun and so rewarding.” Tournament MVP Tevis said “it’s my last year of college, so I had to leave it all out here. I played my heart out. … I don’t have much else to say, to be honest. I’m always smiling and having fun, but I didn’t have that today. I was focused like I have never been before. … I worked so hard for this.” Tevis was chosen player of the game for the Trojans, while Keaton Souster earned the laurels for the Thunder.
