        In the semis, the Lethbridge Kodiaks dusted the Red Deer Kings 94-77 as Gary Williams scored 16, Bruce Millis 15, Dwight White 14, Bob Montsion 11, John Jasiukiewicz 11, Greg Ross 9 and Bob Hansen 8. Doug Baker paced the Kings with 28. Don Brown added 14 and Les Gray 9. “I’ve seen a lot of basketball,” Kodiaks coach Tom Karren told the Lethbridge Herald. “But I’ve never heard so many whistles. They took the game away from the players.” Kings coach Ken Cahoon told the Red Deer Advocate that “we played a good game. We stayed close to them on the boards and putting up shots but we just couldn’t find the range.”

        In the other semi, the Mount Royal Cougars clocked the Camrose Lutheran Vikings 97-74 as Phil Letham scored 22. Dave Schroeder led the Vikings with 20.

        In the bronze medal match, the Camrose Lutheran Vikings whipped the Red Deer Kings 80-58 as Dennis Sereda scored 22, Glen Olsen 21, Schroeder 9, Relling 8, R Zimmer 5, D Zimmer 4, Strong 4, Kmet 4 and Hancock 3, while Schwartz and Rogers were scoreless. Doug Baker led the Kings with 19. Lyle Touchette added 16, Brian McCook 6, Don Brown 6, Hugh Forrester 3, Bob Dublanko 2, Bill Spiller 2, Les Gray 2 and Steve McKenzie 2, while Bill Kultgen and Blaine Kriek were scoreless. The Kings (coached by Ken Gaboon) also included Leo Touchette.

        In the final, the Lethbridge Kodiaks dumped the Mount Royal Cougars 64-54 after leading 25-21 at the half. Curt Wolsey led the Kodiaks with 17. Gary Williams added 14, Bruce Millis 10, Dwight White 9 and John Jasiukiewicz 8, Bob Montsion 6, while Hayden, Leishman, Ross and Pard were scoreless. Phil Latham led the Cougars with 16. Ted Hellard added 12, Al Simpson 11, Hagen 5 and Wuori 2, while See, Myers, Snider, Cornish and Simmons were scoreless. The Cougars stalled for most of the first half and with the game tied at 31, Kodiaks coach Tom Karren called a timeout and shifted his troops into a halfcourt press. It turned the tide by thoroughly disrupting the stall. The Kodiaks ripped off a 10-0 run and then coasted to the win.
