        In the final, the top-seeded Stirling Lakers nipped the 3rd-seeded Lethbridge Immanuel Christian Eagles 85-84 as Cole Still hit the winner at the buzzer. “Every athlete dreams of hitting the game winning shot, and I was fortunate enough to make it happen in my grade 12 year,” Still told the Westwind Weekly. “I was glad to contribute in bringing a 2A banner to Stirling because I know how much it means to this community.” The Lakers, who earned their first AA crown, avenged a loss to the Eagles in the 2014 final. “We knew we had to come out both physically and mentally if we wanted to win this game,” said Still. Assistant coach Ryan Smith said “they battled hard to gain that victory, several players had to change jerseys and be taped up and bandaged because they were bleeding too much and they still continued to battle till the very end of the game. … You couldn’t have scripted it any better in a Hollywood movie.” Steele Stef paced the Lakers with 27. Scott Mazutinec added 21, Zach Oviatt 13, Lane Still 13 and Cole Still 8. Brendan Degner led the Eagles with 46. Reuben Middel added 18, Mike Hummel 14, Jaden Veluw 3 and David Selles 3. Lakers coach Shawn Nelson told the Prairie Post that watching Still’s final shot “was the longest seven seconds of my life. Cole (Still) released that as the buzzer went. The shot went in and the rest is history. This what we all can do in our lives when we set goals that stretch yourself and no matter what adversity comes in, sticking together and achieving those goals.”
