It felt like every one of their baskets were worth two or three more than ours by the way the crowd reacted. It wasn’t one of our better games as we didn’t shoot the ball very well, but we played great defence. They had a chance to tie or win at the end, but our defence didn’t even allow them to get a shot off in the last 15 seconds. It was a very good defensive stand. … It was fantastic. To get through all of the adversity that we had that weekend with guys sick and one of our starters, Chris Foster, playing through an injured ankle. It made it all that much sweeter, winning a close game and fighting through all of those things. It was a little overwhelming and a bit of a relief to have entered that tournament as the No. 1 seed and come away with the banner. The guys worked so hard for this all year. Right from our first tryout I told the guys that the goal was to win our league zones and provincials and we accomplished that. It was such a great year. It’s really easy when things are going well to kind of let up a little, but these guys kept pushing. I think that is what this team is going to be known for.” Jordyn Halbersma paced the Eagles with 15.
