        In the quarterfinals, the 4th-seeded Edmonton Christian Lions defeated the 5th-seeded Bow Island Senator Gershaw Gators 90-79 in overtime as Chris Van Huis scored 31, Tyler Foote 20, Steve Pontelak 15, Jordan Voogd 9, Chris McKinnon 6, Chad Annebo 3, Ryan Gurnett 2, Jonas Van Ginhaven 2 and Matthew Kalisvaart 2. The Lions led 19-18 after one quarter and 39-38 at the half. The Gators rallied to a 75-73 lead with 21 seconds to play but the Lions forced the extra session and then capitalized on free throws as five Gators fouled out in overtime. The Gators (coached by Stuart Murray) also included Cam Stromsmoe, Adam Kroeker, Joel Robinson, Jeremy Wiens, Thomas Penner, Gary Reimer.

        The top-seeded Lethbridge Immanuel Christian Eagles defeated the 9th-seeded Daysland Dynamos 75-69. The Dynamos slowed the tempo to a crawl and led 38-35 at the half. But the Eagles rallied in the second half, taking the lead for good with nine minutes to play. Matthew Bekkering led the Eagles with 24. Brad Vanderberg added 15, Cam Stromsmoe 14 and Brent Hamilton 10. “Well, hard work won the game for us,” Eagles coach Duane Konynenbelt told the Lethbridge Herald. “We’ve got this game. Now, we’ll be able to settle down and play.” Nic Wolbeck led the Dynamos with 22. Steve Wolbeck added 19. The Dynamos also included Derek Sorenson, Justin McCarroll.

        The 2nd-seeded Picture Butte Sugar Kings clipped the 7th-seeded Bawlf Wildcats 74-64 in overtime as reserve grade 10 guard Jordan Reiter lit up the gym with 35. The tide turned when Reiter came off the bench and the Sugar Kings shifted to a zone. But Craig Marshall rallied the Wildcats down the stretch and missed an opportunity to win it in regulation when a 15-footer rimmed out. Chase Barendregt added 15 for the Sugar Kings, and Rod Nieboer 10. Marshall led the Wildcats with 30. Tyrel Herder added 10. “The big thing that sticks in my mind are the pre-game jitters with the people that are the higher seed,” said Sugar Kings’ coach Hank Heerze. “You even see it in the NCAA. The bottom line

is I think the change to the zone made a big difference. We just want to build on that game and hopefully it will take us through to the final.”

        In the semis, the Edmonton Christian Lions stuns the top-seeded Lethbridge Immanuel Christian Eagles 66-59 as Tyler Foote scored 21, Chris Van Huis 9, Chris McKinnon 5, Jonas Van Ginhaven 9, Steve Pontelak 5, Jordan Voogd 15 and Matthew Kalisvert 2.
