Langara’s Angela Miller is chosen player of the year. The 5-10 forward led the BCCAA in scoring with a 19.15 ppg and finished second in rebounding with a 9.77 rpg while being chosen the league’s MVP for the third-place finishers. “I wish my team could here with me,” said the 20-year-old. “I would give up that award to be playing at nationals.”
SAIT’s Avery Harrison was chosen coach of the year for the 2nd time in his career. “When they said, ‘from SAIT’, I just about fell off my chair,” said Harrison. “It’s reflection of what kind of year the team has had. It’s as much (associate coach) Rae Fehr’s award as mine.” Harrison began coach in 1984 with the Trojan men’s team. He coached the Mount Royal women for two years, returning to SAIT to become head coach in 1998-99.
