In the final, the 2nd-seeded Red River Rebels clipped the top-seeded Canadian Mennonite University Blazers 64-55. The Blazers led 13-11 after one quarter. The Rebels led 31-25 at the half and 47-38 after three quarters. Tournament MVP Lindsay Young told The Projector that she knew the Rebels could repeat as champions. “It was kind of a hard year for us but I’m really proud of us for pulling it together. I knew we could beat them all along.” Young’s ballhawking and offensive boardwork set the tone early for the Rebels. Coupled with Blazer foul trouble, Canadian Mennonite were never able to seriously threaten. “It was very intense,” Young told the MCAC. “It was very physical but I thought the referees did a very good job at keeping it under control but also letting us play. And I think the outcome was what it was. I was just really excited to play today. I guess that’s what’s really nice about coming in as the lower seed, it was less pressure. … Definitely, there’s a strong alumni presence at this school. We scrimmage against them all the time and they’re all fantastic players…a couple days before our finals began, they all came and practiced with us which was awesome because it reminds us of what we’re playing for and who we’re playing for. So yeah, I definitely think there’s some pressure to not break that streak.” Raven Boulanger paced the Rebels with 15 on 6-16 from the floor, 3-5 from the arc, 8 boards and 3 steals.
