In the New Brunswick-PEI conference tournament semis, the University of New Brunswick-Saint John Red Barons edged the Moncton Blue Eagles 64-61 as Paul Budreski scored 21, Jim Anderson 11, Don Price 9, Brian Bawn 9, Dave Burley 8 and Craig Wilson 6. Charlie Bourque led the Blue Eagles with 15. Ron Daigle added 14, Armand LeBlanc 9, Len Goguen 8, Laurent Larocque 7, Paul Lennox 6 and Melanson 2.
In the other semi, St. Thomas defeated the University of New Brunswick Jayvees 58-54 as Ward White scored 14, Dan Atkins 10, Ben Cholody 9, Mike McIntyre 8, John Witlib 7, Peter Boyle 4, Dave Ross 4 and John Buchanan 2. Greg Gould led the Jayvees with 19. Bill Foster added 13, Denis Benoit 7, Young 6, John Wetmore 5, Gordon Douglas 2 and Dougherty 2.
In the bronze medal match, the University of Moncton Blue Eagles edged the University of New Brunswick Jayvee Red Raiders 63-61 as Bernard Beaubien hit two free throws to give Eagles a 59-55 lead and they hung on for the win despite a pair of free throws from Greg Gould. Ron Daigle led the Blue Eagles with 18. Len Gougen added 14, Laurent Larocque 13, Charlie Bourque 9, Paul Lennox 5 and Bernard Beaubien 4. Bob Young paced the JV Red Raiders with 16. Greg Gould added 11, John Wetmore 10, Dennis Veniot 6, Bob Slipp 4, Don (Dan?) Doherty 3, Bill Norris 2 and John Kowtaluk 2, while Bill Foster was scoreless. The Red Raiders (coach Dan Underwood, assistant Robie Anderson, manager John Morrison, assistant manager Bill Corby) also included Gord Douglas, Stirling Kierstead, Kierstead and Denny Benwell.
In the final, the UNB-Saint John Red Barons defeated the St. Thomas Tommies 66-61 as Craig Wilson scored 15, Brian Bawn 12, Chip Budreski 12, Don Price 11, Jim Anderson 10 and Dave Burley 6. John Buchanan led the Tommies with 14. Ben Cholody added 12, John Witlib 9, Ward White 7, Ross 6 and Danny Atkins 3.
