In the inaugural Maritime Tournament quarterfinals, the Memorial Sea-hawks clipped King’s 62-52 as Lester Campbell scored 14, Wayne Churchill 11 and Brian Murphy 10.
The St. Thomas Tommies dusted Nova Scotia Agricultural 72-52.
Sydney’s Xavier JC edged the Nova Scotia Teachers College 56-55. NS Teachers included Dwight Dickinson, Ward White, Mike Springer, Austin Greenlaw, Don Thompson, Pierce and Dave Clark.
In the last quarterfinal, Nova Scotia Tech dispatched the University of New Brunswick Jayvees 74-70. UNB included Bud Brander, Mark Miller, Randy Small, Robbie Anderson, Gary Harding, Al Jones and Art Stothart.
In the semis, the St. Thomas Tommies dispatched the Memorial Sea-Hawks 78-69. Wayne Churchill led the Sea-hawks with 17. Roger Guy added 17 and Don Horwood 13. The Sea-Hawks (coached by Ed Browne, manager Brophy) also included Wayne Stanford, Bob Hillier, R Dawe, B Murphy, John Pye, Gerry Gallant, Ed Murphy, Ron Power, Lester Campbell, Ron Rattary and Dean Roop.
In the other semi, Xavier JC defeated Nova Scotia Tech x-x.
In the final, St. Thomas torched Xavier JC 86-66 as Clavette scored 23, Cholody 20, Roger 16, Witlib 9, Brown 8, Floody 5, Riley 2, Mike Reed 2 and Tim Read 2. Cormier led Xavier with 25. Zinck added 14, Hutley 12, Pettipas 6, Durdle 5, Huges 2 and Marenick 2.
