        Canada was represented by national senior champion Vancouver Eilers.

        The Canadians lost all eight matches, claiming that they had trouble adjusting to the use of a smaller ball and the altitude of Mexico City.

        In their opener, they dropped a 58-41 decision to Mexico despite 17 points by Nora McDermott.

        Brazil thrashed Canada 66-43 as Aglaf Giogio scored 22 and Maria Cardoso 17. Canada led 13-11 after one quarter but soon trailed by 26 and by as many as 36.

        In first game against the Americans, which Canada lost 46-25, they scored just two points in the first quarter. Ruth Cannon led the Americans with 11 points. Lurleyne Meathouse added 9. Shirley Ann Topley paced Canada with 8.

        Canada lost 52-48 in its first game against Chile. The Canadians led by one with a minute to play. But Irene Valencia Valasquez knotted the score with a free throw. Silva Marta Ortiz added a field goal and then Velasquez stole the ball to set up Reyes Onesima for a transition bucket to ensure the win. Shirley Topley paced Canada with 10 points. Nora McDermott added 8 and Heather Walker 7. Valencia Velasquez paced Chile with 33.

        In Canada’s second game against Brazil, in which the South Americans prevailed 58-43, Maria Cardosa scored 18 and Nair Kanawatti 13 for Brazil. Pat Smith led Canada with 9. Heather Walker added 8.
