In the semi-finals, the 2nd-seeded Thompson Rivers Sun Demons defeated 3rd-seeded Northern British Columbia Timberwolves 102-74. The Sun Demons established a lead quickly by bombing from the perimeter, hitting 9 from beyond the arc in the first 10 minutes of play. The Wolves were unable to establish an inside presence and could hit nothing from the perimeter. Joey Farebrother finished the half with a hard working putback to put the Demons up 53-39. The second half began with Buck and Farebrother going long again and again. Buck kept bombing, finishing with 25 points on 7-8 from the arc. Farebrother added 22.
In the other semi, the 5th-seeded Capilano Blues stunned the top-seeded Fraser Valley Cascades 75-67. Capilano took an early lead as Jordan Yu’s speed befuddled the Cascades. Yu fed Scott Lawson for nine transition points but Matt Thiessen and Dan Turner hit buckets to rally Fraser Valley. The Cascades began pounding the ball inside to Shane Heuring to build a 26-24 lead. But the Blues rallied to a 32-31 lead at the half. Capilano’s full-court press began to yield dividends in the second half and Yu hit a trey and then dished the ball to Chris Porteous for another as the Blues took command. Peter Wauthy led the Cascades with 20. His replacement, Dan Turner, hit five treys. Chris Porteous led the
Blues with 17 points. Yu added 16.
In the bronze medal match, the University of Northern BC Timberwolves defeated the Fraser Valley Cascades 75-65. Peter Wauthy finally hit the scoreboard for the Cascades after eight minutes. But by then, Gene Wolff, Brett Stewart and Todd Jordan had given the Wolves a double-digit lead. Alex Nadrazsky joined the slashing guards cutting through the defense. His size combined with speed allowed him to work his way into the paint against the Cascade big men who were not as mobile. Smart hands in the zone defense frustrated Fraser Valley’s guards who were not penetrating effectively until Dan Turner went inside. When the Cascades got in foul trouble in the second half it was over. Wolff led the Timberwolves with 24. Mark Turner paced the Cascades with 22. Peter Wauthy added 15. The Cascades also included Kyle Morton, Brent Sedo.

Tim Pershick got a pair on spin moves in the post. Skye Buck failed to connect and Jordan Yu made him pay running the whole court to sink a fast break bucket. Scott Lawson nailed his first trey. With Hrdlickav on the bench the Blues lost an inside presence allowing Sun Demon Andrew Sexton to operate in the paint. Two quick fouls against Scott Lawson and Hrdlickav was bac on the floor. Yu got fouled on a transition bucket assisted by Porteous. The duo of Yu and Porteous did it again stealing possession away from Scott Marr for another open bucket, by Porteous. A Porteous steal led to another transition bucket which gave the Blues a 27-10 lead. Mike Stratford tried to start something for the Sun Demons with two penetrating buckets only to have Yu garner another fastbreak bucket. The game quickly got physical as Capilano took a lead at the half. The Blues quickly took command. Yu set up Hrdlickav for a pair of buckets and Capilano soon led 53-24. The Sun Demons were forced almost entirely to the perimeter where they couldn’t find their touch. Skye Buck finally got on the board with free throws after Capilano took a bench technical foul. An inspired Mike Stratford scored shortly after on the inbound and then again in transition. Stratford seemed more able to cut Yu off at the drive but still gave up points from long range.
