After the season, Sheila Beckie retires as coach at Regina to focus on raising her family. Debbie Patterson, a two-time All-Canadian at Calgary is selected as the new coach of the Rams. The 24-year-old was coming off a national championship in her fifth year with the Dinosaurs. “I’ve always wanted to coach,” said Patterson. “I was born in Regina, so I’d have no problem with going there.” Two years earlier, Patterson sat out a season and coached Calgary while Donna Rudakas was on maternity leave.
