In the semis, Dalhousie thrashed UPEI 99-41 as Carol Rosenthal and Jill Tasker each scored 16, while Anna Pendergast notched 15, Anne Murray 14, Patti Langille 12, and Anne Lindsay 12. UPEI was paced by Cathy Chandler 20, Dawn MacLeod 8 and Sharon Douglas 8. Dalhousie led 48-24 at half.
In the other semi, Sandy Hill led the New Brunswick Varsity Reds to a 56-34 victory over St. FX by scoring 11 points, while Laura Saunders added 9, J Mclean 8, A Steeves 7, Ann McClellan 7, Carla Ryder 4, Carol-Ann Ahier, Caroline Hamilton-Irving 2, Jill Jeffrey 2 and Sharon Keays 2. Margie Murphy paced St. FX with 10, while Margie Berthiaume added 8. UNB led 32-15 at half.
In the final, Dalhousie whipped New Brunswick 77-53. The Tigers opened the game with an 11-0 run. They led 25-6 and then 46-22 at the half. Both teams suffered a scoring drought, for about five minutes, late in the third quarter, but the Tigers soon got on track and romped to the easy win. Carol Rosenthal paced the Tigers with 18. Anna Pendergast added 15, Anne Lindsay 14, Jill Tasker 14, Patty Langille 12 and Elaine Walker 2. Ann McClellan paced the Red Bloomers with 19. C Ryder added 10, S Keays 7, C Gammon 6, M Pryde 6, S Hill 4 and A Steeves 1. “I can’t say enough good things about this team,” said coach Carolyn Savoy. “We came out strong at the start and we wanted it: that’s 18 wins in a row for us. I couldn’t have asked for more from the girls. They played great.”
