In the semis, the 2nd-seeded Dalhousie Tigerettes defeated the 3rd-seeded Acadia Axettes 55-53. The Tigers led 36-27 at the half, but Acadia rallied to force a tie with minutes to go before Anne Lindsay hit winning bucket. Jill Tasker led Dalhousie with 14, while Lindsay added 14. Acadia was paced by Wendy and Patty Langille with 18 and 16 points apiece. “It just goes to show how teams can rise to the occasion,” said Dalhousie coach Carolyn Savoy. “They came out strong in their zone but when we needed the hoop, the girls got it. That’s what shows a real good basketball player.”

In the other semi, the top-seeded University of New Brunswick Red Bloomerx waxed the 4th-seeded St. Francis Xavier X-Women 72-40 as Patty Shepherd notched 15. Liedy Scholten added 12. Acadia was led by Margaret Berthiaume with 12. UNB led 26-16 at the half. “We were a bit nervous in the first half,” said coach Joyce Slipp. “But we opened up to play well in the second. Defensively, we played super, just like at the start of the season.”

        In the final, the New Brunswick Red Bloomers trounced Dalhousie 71-36 as Claire Mitton scored 14, Cathy Maxwell 12 and Sylvia Blumenfield 10. Carol Rosenthal led Dalhousie with 15, Anne Lindsay added 13. UNB was ahead 36-21 at the half.
