        With only four teams in the NSIBL, a decision was made not to conduct Nova Scotia semis.

In the Nova Scotia finals, Acadia swept St. FX 57-55; 56-35 (2g-0). …………………………………………………… In game one, Acadia defeated St. FX 57-55 as Charlie Thomas hit a jumper in the lane with two seconds to go. St. FX was ahead 55-53 with 1:30 to go but Ritchie Spears hit a bucket to tie the contest. St. FX’s Paul Chenard missed a field goal from the top of the key with 17 seconds to go. Thomas grabbed the rebound and Acadia called time out to set up the winning play. Thomas finished with 23 points, including 10-13 from the floor, while Spears added 18, including 8-16 from the floor. St. FX was led by Paul Schonhart 21, including 8-12 from the floor and point guard Bob Nepolitano 8, including 3-5 from the floor. ………………………………………………………… In the second contest, Acadia’s tough 1-2-2 zone proved too much for St. FX to handle as the Axemen won 56-35 after taking a 24-15 halftime lead. Acadia’s Jim Kreutzer, from Buffalo, N.Y. led all scorers with 15, while Ritchie Spears added 14 and Charles Thomas 10. Thomas pulled down 10 rebounds in leading Acadia to a 40-30 rebound margin over St. FX. Paul Schonhart and Bernie Bouchey each scored 8 to pace St. FX. The X-Men (coached by John ‘Packy’ McFarland) also included Dave Barry, Kevin Kelly, Paul Chenard, Gregory Jordan, Robert Napolitano, Ronald Byrnes, Paul Coakley, Hugh Peters, Jay Ashe, Neil Bisson, Nick Camelio, Bob Theising, Roger Young and Patrick O’Leary.

U.P.E.I. captured the NB-PEI crown with a final regular season game victory at home over UNB 61-51 as Bob Francouer scored 26. Laird McLennan led UNB with 15.

        In the Maritime finals, Acadia d’d U.P.E.I. 76-37; 65-44 (2g-0).

        In the opening contest, Acadia took a 42-13 lead and breezed to a 76-37 win as Peter Simmonds scored 19, including 14 in the first half, and grabbed 8 rebounds. Ritchie Spears added 18, while Jim Kreutzer nabbed 10 boards. The Axemen included Buffalo, N.Y.-product Frank Kreutzer and Hampstead, Long Island-product Ronnie Ayes. Bob Francoeur paced UPEI with 18.

In the second contest, Acadia took a 33-26 lead at the half and were unchallenged as Ritchie Spears scored 21, Dan Parrinelli 17, Jim Kreutzer 13, Charlie Thomas 10 and Peter Simmonds 4, while I MacMillan, J Olinto, P Caron and S Konchalski were scoreless. UPEI was led by Bob Francoeur 17, Frank Garrity 10, Ripley 7, Dan DesRoches 5 and Joe Sassi 5, while Mclaughlin, Eaton and Farrell were scoreless. Acadia entered the national tourney 18-4, riding a five-game winning streak.

        On March 22, 1963, the league voted to eliminate its divisions and commence playing a regular round robin with six teams: New Brunswick, Mount Allison; St. FX, Dalhousie, Acadia and Saint Mary’s.
