In the semis, Concordia thrashed McGill 97-66. The Redmen finished (3-9) in league play after having to forfeit two games for playing Providence transfer Johnathan Barnes in violation of a rule that required that players sit out a full year before regaining eligibility at another institution.

In the other semi, the Bishop’s Gaiters destroyed the Laval Rouge et Or 95-75.

In the final, Concordia defeated Bishop’s 74-68. The Stingers were led by American rookie Doug Whaley, a 6-4 guard from Orange, New Jersey, who was chosen the league’s MVP while averaging 20.9 ppg. He scored 22 against the Gaiters. Whaley told the Montreal Gazette the “turning point came when they missed a couple of layups with about five minutes to go. We came back with a couple of baskets of our own and it meant about eight points in all.”
