In the semis, held in Kingston, Western defeated Toronto 33-18 as Joanne Castle scored 13, Beth McLean 8, Fran Wigston 7 and Marilyn Parkinson 5, while Mary Lou Dresser, Jean Knight, Cathy Koroniak, Sylvia Meyers, Florence Senfar and Jane Pinchin were scoreless. The Mustangs led 15-13 at the half. Sylvia Kerr led Toronto with 5. Pru Smith added 5, Marilyn Charters 4 and Joy Taylor 4, while Lillian Bobson, Jan Tennant, Pam Miles, Pam Davies, Audrey Lamb, Meredith Robinson, Lou Martin and Gwen Thom were scoreless

In the other semi, Queen’s defeated McGill 42-29 as Betty Jean Hardie scored 16, Diane Barras 8, Barbara Clair 8, Gwen Howes 6 and Dorothy Enright 4, while Barbara Bell, Barbara Moore, Ann Martin, Ann Donovan, Pat Chapman, Judy Weber and Mary McKinney were scoreless. Dorothy May led McGill with 18. Frances Laurin added 6, Judy Earle 2, Virginia Carter 2 and Betty Alexander 1, while Mavis Oamer, Dody Davidison, Joan Sanderson, Shannon Stone, Dorothy Underhill, Helen Tucker and Judy Bowman were scoreless.

       In the bronze medal match, McGill defeated Toronto 38-21, as Dorothy May scored 18, Betty Alexander 8 and Judy Earle 6. The Martlets led 23-12 at the half. Blues star forward Marilyn Charters suffered a broken nose in the pre-game warm-up. Sylvia Kerr paced Toronto with 10. The Blues (coached by Mary Barnett) also included Pru Smith, Louise Martin, Meredith Robinson, Joy Taylor, Jan Tenant, Pal Davis and Marion Capel.

       In the final, Western defeated Queen’s 46-39 despite losing a massive lead in the third quarter as Gaels sub Barbara Clair came off the bench to score 14 in the third quarter to pare the Western lead to 29-27. But Beth McLean scored all of Western’s 10 points in the final quarter to ensure the victory. McLean finished with 25. Joanne Castle added 16. Clair topped Queen’s scoring with 18. The Mustangs led 22-14 at the half but the Gaels switched from a zone to a man-to-man defence and rallied within two. The rally faltered when guard Pat Chapman fouled out.
