In the semis, held in Kingston, Western defeated Queen’s 26-21 as Creena Wallace scored 6, Margaret McKee 10, Irene Getlas 8, Creena Wallace 6 and Joyce Chamberlain 2. Ruth Cooper paced Queen’s with 12. Betty Webb added 4, Jean Merriam 4 and Vivian O’Neill 1.

       In the other semi, Toronto defeated McGill 17-14 as Roberta McDonald scored 7, Gerry Ryan 6, Margaret Glass 4. Emily Irving led McGill with 8. Eileen Marshall added 5.

       In the bronze medal match, Queen’s defeated McGill 24-14. The Martlets (coached by Zerada Slack and managed by Molly Coate) included Emily Irving, Elizabeth Dunham, Mona Robinson, Margaret Jamieson, Phyllis Evans, Ruth Schofield, Eileen Marshall, Peggy Tyndale and Elizabeth Murphy.

       In the final, Western captured its third consecutive crown as they dumped Toronto 25-18. The Varsity Blues took an early 4-0 lead but quickly faltered as the Western’s crisp passing dissected the Toronto defence.
