In the semis, held in Montreal, Western defeated McGill 37-23 as Mary Wong scored 17, Creena Wallace 10, Joyce Chamberlain 8 and Margaret McKee 2.
In the other semi, Toronto dispatched Queen’s 28-22 as Erna Laing scored 14 and Margaret Glass 9. The Varsity Blues led 15-10 at the half.
In the bronze medal match, the Queen’s Golden Gaels nipped the McGill Martlets 25-24 as Georgina Ross scored 10, Kay Boyd 8, Betty Webb 4, Marjorie Schrader 2 and Eleanor MacDonald 1, while Gladys Heintz, Louise Howie and Bud Ardell were scoreless. Betty Savage, Eileen Marshall and Lorayne Strachan each scored 6 to pace the Martlets. Barbara Barnard added 5 and Eileen Crutchlow 1, while Phyllis Evans, Beatrice Barclay, Ruth Schofield and Ruth Russell were scoreless. The score was knotted at 8 at the half. The Martlets (coached by Zerada Slack) also included Babette Dunham.
In the final, the Western Mustangs pounded the Toronto Varsity Blues 40-14 as Mary Wong scored 18, Margaret McKee 12 and Creena Wallace 10, while Dot Timpany, Nancy Santo, Joyce Chamberlain, Ruth David, M Homuth and Margaret and Mary Cardiff were scoreless. Erna Laing paced Toronto with 7. Joy Brownlee added 5 and Margaret Glass 2, while Ellen Wilson, Betty Jenkinson, Jocelyn Rea, Doris Wagstaff and Jean Miller were scoreless.
