In the playoffs (a best of 3 final, no semis), Victoria swept Calgary 76-56; 78-50 (2g-0).
In game one, Victoria stomped Calgary 76-56, after leading 40-21 at the half. Carol Turney-Loos paced the Vikes with 20. Luanne Hebb added 16, Tracie McAra 14, Sandy Lewis 12, Sue Shaw 8, Jane $ and Donna Digby 2. Janis Paskevich led the Dinos with 24. Lori Chizik added 12, Lindy Rasmussen 6, Donna Hanna 6, Dori McPhael 4 and Julie Hendrix 4. Calgary coach Donna Rudakas told the Calgary Herald “we did not play well at all. We didn’t shoot well but give Victoria credit, they didn’t let us take good shots. We were mentally with it, however Victoria is simply a better ball club. … Their defence was awesome.” The Vikes shot .510 from the floor. Calgary shot .340. Roman told The Gauntlet that “we picked at their defence and had control of the full-court press and the ball. But Victoria had a good solid game.”
In game two, Victoria won 78-50 (80-50, according to The Gauntlet) as Carole Turney-Loos scored 33, Luanne Hebb 27, Donna Digby 6, Cindy Smith 4, Tracy McAra 2 and Susan Shaw 2, while Karen Packallen, Janine Prince and Jane Boe were scoreless. The Vikes led 41-20 at the half. Janis Paskevich led the Dinos with 14. Lori Chizik added 14, Lindy Rasmussen 6, Dori McPhail 4, Julie Hendrix 2, Cathy Chrusch 2, Cathy Keenan 2 and Julie Maybe 1, while Janny Woods and Jane-Anne Kosten were scoreless. “It was a very disappointing weekend,” Dinosaurs coach Donna Roman told The Gauntlet. “When we beat them in Calgary it put a scare in them. They woke up for the playoffs and their defence was awesome.”
