Despite having Debbie Phelan out for the season with a knee injury, UBC rolled to the title with an (18-2) record. There were no postseason playoffs.

The Dinnies used a full court press to rally within four in the second half before the Pandas again turned on the jets. Wendy Martin led Alberta with 20. Victoria split with host Alberta. …………………………………………………… In game one, Victoria prevailed 52-35 after controlling the tempo and using their superior height to advantage to dominate the boards. Alberta tried to push the pace with a full-court press but the Vikes patience on offence was solid. Alberta shot 22% from the floor and trailed 25-15 at the half. The Vikes hit 36% from the floor. Pandas coach Kathy Broderick said the Vikes were simply too physical for the Pandas. “It was a bloodbath,” Broderick said. Edna Ritchie and Lorna McHattie each scored 15 to pace Victoria. Diane Robbie added 10. Wendy Martin paced Alberta with 16. …………………………………………………… In game two, Alberta nipped Victoria 46-42. Victoria held a slim lead for the most of the game but Alberta successfully began to push the tempo and took the lead with 2:20 to play on a Brenda Mckie layup. Alberta shot 32% from the floor, while Victoria hit 24%. Kathy Moore also had a strong performance for the Pandas off the bench by scoring 8. Wendy Martin paced Alberta with 17. Amanda Holloway added 8. Lorna McHattie paced Victoria with 9. Laurie Atchinson, Donna Blackstock and Rita Clarkson each added 7.

Host U.B.C. thrashed Alberta 63-36 and 51-35. …………………………………………………… In game one, UBC crushed Alberta 63-36.
Alberta’s zone made it difficult early for the Thunderettes but the Pandas had just as much difficulty handling U.B.C.’s full court press. The Thunderettes also dominated the boards, outrebounding Alberta 54-25. Alberta coach Kathy Broderick described the Pandas rebounding with one word: “none.” UBC led 25-18 at the half as Liz Silcott slowly took command of the paint. Silcott led UBC with 18. Nora Ballantyne added 13 and Carol Turney 10; Yvonne Shea led Alberta with 12. …………………………………………………… In game two, UBC prevailed 51-35. The Pandas took an early lead and maintained their edge for most of the first half, after which they led 22-21 on a late Amanda Holloway bucket. But UBC’s Kathy Burdett finally resolved Alberta 1-2-2 zone and began hitting perimeter shots as the Thunderettes took control. UBC finished out the match with a 24-6 run and outrebounded Alberta 38-35. Amanda Holloway notched 13 boards for the Pandas and Chris Graves 9.
Host Victoria swept Calgary 58-36 and 48-29.
Host Saskatchewan swept Lethbridge 116-17 and 73-25. …………………………………………………… Saskatchewan stomped Lethbridge 116-17 after leading 51-7 at the half. Dot Czarnota paced the Huskies with 16. Teri Duke added 14 and Karen Kusler 14. The Huskiettes committed 14 turnovers. …………………………………………………… In game two, Saskatchewan dumped Lethbridge 73-25 as Karen Kusler scored 15 and Teri Duke 13. Judy Seaman nabbed 8 boards. The Huskies outrebounded Lethbridge 43-11. The Huskiettes hit 33-107 (.310) from the floor and committed 36 turnovers.
Host Alberta thrashed Calgary 64-32 and 66-43. …………………………………………………… In game one, Alberta prevailed 64-32 as their full-court pressure rattled the Dinnies. On the opening tip, Chris Graves tapped the ball to Wendy Martin for an open layup but she flubbed the ball, one of 57 turnovers on the match. But the Pandas led 22-9 at the half as Calgary shot poorly, finishing 13-of-75 on the night. Alberta press forced a raft of turnovers in the second half and the Pandas outrebounding Calgary 64-31. Wendy Martin led Alberta with 24. Yvonne Shea and Chris Graves each added 10. Pat Walker led Calgary with 11. …………………………………………………… In game two, Alberta prevailed 66-43 as their press generated a bushel of turnovers. Alberta took a 24-7 lead but then relinquished a 10-2 run before settling down and taking a 33-19 lead at the half. The Dinnies tried to press the Pandas in the second half, to little avail. Wendy Martin paced Alberta with 30 on 14-of-23 from the floor. Charlotte Shmyr added 12, while Amanda Holloway nabbed 12 boards. Lynn Pullen paced Calgary with 14. Moiya Pilling added 12.

Saskatchewan defeated host Alberta 55-51 and 67-29. …………………………………………………… In game one, Saskatchewan prevailed 55-51 in overtime. Alberta took a 17-9 lead on its man-to-man defence and full court press. The Huskies rallied with a halfcourt zone press and trimmed the margin to 25-24 at the half. Alberta switched to a zone at the half to prevent foul trouble and exhaustion but Saskatchewan’s Pat Jackson had the answer in the form of depth. The Pandas were hampered by injuries as Kathy Moore (foot), Wendy Martin (Achilles), Amanda Holloway (shin splints) and Glenda Leach (chipped bone in foot) were gimpy. Deena Mitchell hit bucket to give Alberta a 49-47 lead but Rhonda Hunter forced overtime with a short jumper with 35 seconds to play. Four Pandas fouled out before the extra session: Chris Graves, Brenda Mackie, Charlotte Shmyr and Wendy Martin. Yvonne Shea hit a long bomb to give Alberta a 51-50 lead in the extra session. But Rhonda Hunter hit a free throw, Karen Kusler a three-point play and Barb Wright a steal for a layup as the Huskies pulled out the win. Karen Kusler led Saskatchewan with 23. Wendy Martin paced Alberta with 19. Amanda Holloway added 10. …………………………………………………… In game two, Saskatchewan whipped Alberta 67-29. The Huskies man-to-man defence and depth stymied the Pandas. Calgary won it when a travelling violation gave the Dinosaurs the ball with 28 seconds to play. Bonnie Cameron drained the winner as time expired. Janice Kyle led the Dinosaurs with 10. Kathy Bardgett led the Pronghornettes with 15. Lori Lilja added 14.

The Pandas led 45-15 at the half, dominated the boards and shot 50% from the field. Although Sandra Knight rallied the Pronghorns in the second half, coach Kathy Broderick’s Pandas romped. Wendy Martin led Alberta with 20. Amanda Holloway added 10. Pat Schandor and Kathy Bardgett paced Lethbridge with 10 apiece. …………………………………………………… In game two, Alberta romped 64-35. Despite sloppy passing, Alberta built a slim lead as Lethbridge slowed the game to a crawl. But the Pandas ripped off a 20-6 run to take a 35-16 lead at the half. Their zone press ripped apart the Pronghorns in the second half. Wendy Martin led Alberta with 18. Charlotte Shmyr added 11.

Host Victoria thumped Alberta 51-34 and 55-50. …………………………………………………… In game one, Victoria prevailed 51-34 as the Vikes zone press rattled the Pandas. If the press didn’t yield a turnover, Mike Gallo had his troops retreat into a 2-1-2 zone which stymied the Pandas. “Wendy (Martin) is the top scorer in the league and we didn’t want to let her run free,” said Gallo. The Vikes built a 16-4 lead as Lorna McHattie ran wild but Alberta rallied to within 22-14 at the half. The Pandas shot better in the second half but tired down the stretch. McHattie led Victoria with 13. Edna Ritchie added 11, and ripped down 17 boards. Amanda Holloway paced the Pandas with 8 points and 13 boards. Alberta shot 21% from the floor. The Vikes outrebounded the Pandas 53-38. …………………………………………………… In game two, Victoria nipped Alberta 55-50. The Pandas did a much better job in transition but the Vikes led 31-25 at the half and 44-31 midway through the second half as they capitalized on Alberta’s foul trouble. Alberta rallied to within three with 16 seconds to play but Donna Blackstock iced it with a pair of free throws. Lorna McHattie led Victoria with 14 on 8-of-16 from the line. Wendy Martin paced Alberta with 22. Alberta shot 39% from the floor. Both teams nabbed 33 boards.

On the last weekend of season, host UBC defeated Saskatchewan 61-54 as Liz Silcott scores 18, Carol Turney 14 and Judi Kent 12. Karen Kusler hits 9 for Huskies. Judy Seaman adds 9, Dot Czarnota 8, Barb Berg 8, Barb Wilson 5 and Teri Duke 5. Saskatchewan was ahead 14-8 and 20-12 when the T-Birds went to a full-court press and took a 27-20 lead, including six points by Kent. BC was ahead 35-32 at the half. Saskatchewan was up 44-41 with 13 minutes to go but UBC rallied to take 51-50 lead with eight minutes to play and promptly went on an 8-0 run to put the game out of reach. …………………………………………………… The next night, UBC closed out its season by defeating Saskatchewan 56-49 as Liz Silcott scores 19 and grabs 7 rebs. Carol Turney adds 16 and 8 boards. Bev Barnes adds 10 and Judi Kent grabs 8 rebounds. UBC opened second half with an 11-4 run, hit 22-62 from floor and out-rebounded the Huskies 33-29. Karen Kusler led Saskatchewan with 19. Dot Czarnota added 8, Debby Borzal 7, Barb Wilson 6 and Barb Wright 6. Saskatchewan shot 18-70 (.200).
