Manitoba opted not to compete because of costs. Alberta’s student council declined to send the Pandas to Saskatoon, leaving the Rigby Cup a two-game series with Saskatoon, in Edmonton. The Bisonettes (coached by Charlie Proudfoot) included Ethel Harriot, Margaret Guest, Meryl Harnson, Betty Newcome, Marjorie Ross, Dorothy Harden, Lois O’Grady, Wilma Perry, Marie Baragar and Joyce Northcote.

In game one, Saskatchewan defeated Alberta 23-21 as Helen Stewart hit the winner in the final minute of play. The Huskies led 11-8 at the half.

In game two, Alberta prevailed 24-23 but the Huskies were awarded the Race Trophy by virtue of their one-point point differential in the two games. Marg Stewart paced the Pandas with 14. Helen Stewart led the Huskies with 15.
