Saskatchewan and Alberta split at home, with each finishing (2-2). But league officials awarded the title to the Huskies by virtue of a 168-159 lead in total points in the four games. The Green and Gold says the Bears played without Jack Thompson and Ian Cooke, who were injured. Alberta won both games at home “and carried an 18-point lead to Saskatoon but were forced to meet defeat in the two games there, losing a closely contested series by a seven-point margin.”

In the first game in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan prevailed 56-33. Alberta took an early 8-5 lead but Marshall and Howden took command as Saskatchewan built a 19-12 lead at the half. They iced the game with 14-0 run early in the second half. Ernie Marshall paced the Huskies with 18. Ron Stafford added 13, Howden 13, Jack Ebbels 6, Doug Cameron 4 and Mitch Finklestein 2, while Balmer, Harold MacFarlane, Pud Morrison, Don Wilson, Dave Kahn and Williams were scoreless. Clair Malcolm and Jack Lees each scored 10 to paced Alberta. George Walker added 7, Sammy Moscovich 3, Guy Morton 2 and Hal Richards 1, while Ian Cooke was scoreless.
In the second game in Saskatoon, the Huskies prevailed 40-37. Huskies star guard Mitch Finklestein hit two long bombs as Saskatchewan opened with a 9-3 run and built a 23-11 lead at the half. Howden and Mitch Finklestein hit buckets to start the second half before Jack Lees, Clair Malcolm and George Walker rallied Alberta with 37-33. Balmer, however, hit a bucket and a free throw to give Saskatchewan a six-point lead. Alberta cut the lead to three with two minutes to go but Saskatchewan stalled and ran out the clock. Ernie Marshall and Mitch Finklestein each scored 12 to pace Saskatchewan. Howden added 5, Ron Stafford 4, Balmer 3, Jack Ebbels 2 and Doug Cameron 2, while Pud Morrison, Harold MacFarlane, Don Wilson, Dave Kahn and Williams were scoreless. Clair Malcolm paced Alberta with 13. George Walker added 9, Jack Lees 8, Sammy Moscovich 4 and Hal Richards 2, while Guy Morton was scoreless.
