In the final, the top-seeded Charlottetown Rural-1 Raiders torched 2nd-seeded Bluefield-1 Bobcats 52-32 to capture their 11th consecutive title. “I think it really just speaks to the time and the effort that the team puts in,” Raiders coach Nicole Davies, a player on the Raiders first title over that 11-year stretch, told the Charlottetown Guardian. “That first one that we won many years ago was a tough one. We were definitely the underdogs in that game (against the Colonel Gray Colonels). But from then, up until now, it’s a big focus and has been just a belief in ourselves knowing that we are capable of accomplishing great things whenever we work together as a team. …  It was a tough game. We knew that Bluefield was going to be tough competition. They have some strong players for sure, so defence was a massive focus for us, trying to keep their top scorers to lower point totals for themselves. Really working on team defence and focusing in on their main players was a huge part of our win. … It felt pretty close most of the way along,” said Davies. “It got as close as within three points, so that definitely felt tight and stressful, obviously. We just gained the momentum back, went on a little run ourselves and just kind of never looked back.” Raiders point guard Jadyn Huggan said receiving the award for MVP of the championships was unexpected.  “Honestly, it was really nice, and it felt good to get recognition, but I was just happy that we won overall and (individual) awards don’t really matter to me – just the banners are what we wanted.” Harlow Hannams was chosen player of the game for the Raiders, while Elle Flick earned the laurels for the Bobcats.
