Brinly Holt paced the Rouge et Or with 20 on 7-20 from the floor, 3-8 from the arc, 3-4 from the line, 7 boards and 3 steals. Sabrine Khelifi added 10 on 4-10 from the floor, 2-2 from the line, 5 boards, 7 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals. Lea-Sophie Verret notched 7 on 3-8 from the floor, 1-4 from the arc and 6 boards.        In the other semi, the 2nd-seeded host McGill Martlets nipped the 3rd-seeded Bishop’s Gaiters 49-45. The Martlets led 15-14 after one quarter. The Gaiters led 29-20 at the half and 40-30 after three quarters. Lily Rose Chatala hit four free throws in the final 2:49. The win guaranteed the Marlets a berth at the national championships, as Laval, the other finalist, automatically qualified as hosts. Martlets coach Rikki Bowles said “well, relief — that’s how I felt.With the most on the line, this is probably our biggest win in my coaching career. … It was about moving the ball quicker. We got away from creating advantages and held it too long against their pressure. … On a day when it was tough offensively, our defence kept us in it. We held them to 16 points in the second half — and only five in the fourth — that was huge.” Bowles added that Erica Simeone “came up huge. On the glass, switching on the guards — she did a good job in all facets.” Lily Rose Chatila paced the Martlets with 24 on 7-21 from the floor, 1-5 from the arc and 9-12 from the line. Erica Simeone added 12 on 6-13 from the floor and 11 boards. Emma-Jane Scotten notched 5 on 1-2 from the arc, 2-2 from the line and 5 boards. Emie Boucard scored 3 on 1-5 from the floor, 0-3 from the arc, 1-2 from the line, 3 boards, 6 assists and 3 steals.        In the final, the 2nd-seeded McGill Martlets stunned the top-seeded host Laval Rouge et Or 51-45 after leading 16-12, 29-22 and 36-32 at the quarters. Daniella Mbengo gave McGill a 45-39 lead on back-to-back possessions with four minutes to play. Laval closed to within two but the Martlets iced it at the line. Daniella Mbengo paced the Martlets with 18 on 8-19 from the floor, 0-4 from the arc, 2-5 from the line, 2 boards and 2 steals. Lily Rose Chatila added 9 on 1-6 from the floor, 1-4 from the arc, 6-10 from the line and 5 boards.
