Harland led 41-34 at the half and command in the second half. Smith told the Fredericton Daily Gleaner that “they gave us quite a scare. When we went up 31-3, we thought we had it won. They wanted more for a minute and we started playing sloppy defence and throwing away passes. But we got it back.” Kraftcheck said when the score was knotted at 33, “I was think ‘we need a reality check’. We’ve got to get it together at halftime and this keep it going.” Huskies coach Lawrence Kennedy said “Harvey played a little faster than they normally would have and they played better defence than they’ve ever played before … Our kids started playing the way they are capable of playing. In the first half, the nerves and the noise got to them. And there’s a lot more pressure when you’re trying to repeat than there is the first time round.” McLean led the Lakers with 17. Budaker added 17 and Wood 10, while Little nabbed 10 boards.
