The 4th-seeded host Toronto Metropolitan Bold crushed the 5th-seeded Brock Badgers 72-53. The Badgers led 16-11 after one quarter. The Bold led 32-28 at the half and 53-49 after three quarters. But the Bold clamped down defensively in the final frame and coasted to the easy win. Bold guard Catrina Garvey said “defence has been a huge part of our identity this year. When the going gets tough just circling back to that, focusing on one-on-one matchups and ultimately being there to support each other. … I think the strong suit for our team is that we have both drivers and shooters. Wilfrid Laurier coach Paul Falco announced that he was retiring from the helm of the Golden Hawks.
McMaster coach Theresa Burns announced that she was retiring after 34 seasons at the helm of the Marauders. Burns led the Marauders to a national title (2019) and five OUA titles (1994, 1996, 2006, 2008 and 2019), while amassing 618 victories. “Coaching has been my life’s passion,” Burns wrote. “To have been entrusted with this program, to help guide its evolution, and to witness the achievements of so many outstanding student-athletes has been the privilege of a lifetime.” Burns played for the University of Toronto and then coach four years at Toronto Metropolitan before assuming the helm at McMaster. She was named OUA coach of the year three times and national coach of year in 2008.
