        In their opener, Canada clipped Ecuador 22-14. Canada ripped off a 12-1 run early. Ecuador rallied to within 16-13 but Alex Johnson iced the win with back-to-back bombs from beyond the arc. Chad Posthumus paced Canada with 10 on 7-12 from the floor, 3-5 from the line, 10 boards and 2 blocks. Alex Johnson added 8 on 0-1 from the floor, 4-11 from the arc, 0-2 from the line and 2 boards. Dele Ogundokun notched 2 on 1-2 from the floor and 4 boards. Bikramjit Gill scored 2 on 2-6 from the floor, 0-2 from the arc and 9 boards.         Canada closed out pool play at 1-1 after dropping a 21-20 decision to Uruguay. Canada led 7-4 early but Estaban Batista Hernandez scored on back-to-back possessions for Uruguay. Bimrajit Gill answered with a two-point to give Canada a 9-5 lead before Uruguay knotted the score with 6:11 to play. After a two-point shot from Alex Johnson, a pair of free throws from Dele Ogundokun and then a two-pointer from Gill, Canada moved ahead 18-13. But Uruguay answered with a 7-0 run to take a 20-19 lead with 47 seconds to play. Johnson made one of two free throws to knot the score at 20 but Demiàn Avarez scored with seven seconds to play to pull out the win for Uruguay. Demian Alvarez paced Uruguay with 9 on 4-9 from the floor, 2-5 from the arc and 4 boards. Agustin Da Costa added 4on 1-2 from the floor, 1-2 from the arc, 1-1 from the line and 3 boards.         In the quarterfinal, Brazil nipped Canada 16-15. Brazil took a 5-2 lead but Bimramjit Gill answered with a layup and a two-pointer. An alley-oop dunk by Chad Posthumus put Canada in front by three. Alex Johnson added a two-pointer to give Canada a 14-10 lead with 1:30 on the clock. But Leonardo Branquinho answered with a driving layup. After Johnson was hit with an offensive foul with 22.9 seconds to play, William Weihermann drilled a two-pointer and 1-2 from the line to force overtime. Brazil’s Jonatas Mello scored first in the overtime. Posthumus knotted the score at 15 and after several Canadian misses, Mello notched a bucket to win it for the Brazilians.
