In the Southwest regional semis, Fredericton Leo Hayes Lions crushed the Quispamsis Kennebecasis Valley Crusaders 57-30. The Crusaders included Kate Griffin.
In the other semi, the Fredericton Black Kats whipped the Saint John St. Malachy’s Memorial Saints 79-58. The Saints included Clancy McIntyre.
In the Southwest regional final, Fredericton High stomped the Fredericton Leo Hayes Lions 78-41. Both advance to provincial semis.
There is no evidence that a Northeast regional was held. In the five-team loop, Moncton finished 1st and Ecole Mathieu-Martin 2nd.
In the provincial semis, the Moncton Purple Knights (1st, Northeast) whipped the Fredericton Leo Hayes Lions (2nd, Southwest) 56-36. The Lions (coach Jackie Kerr, assistant Charlene Woolaver, manager Mike Comeau) included Sydney Grant, Lauren Grant, Ella Simmons, Leah Buyting, Ava Dickson, Reegan Kerr, Kristen Simmons, Grace Lenihan, Leah Stewart, Ellie Galbraith and Abby Bannister.
In the other semi, the Fredericton Black Kats (1st, Southwest) dusted the Diepe Ecole Mathieu-Martin Vedettes (2nd, Northeast) 109-35. The Vedettes (coach Marc-André LeBlanc, assistant Danika Bourque) included Jolayemi Fasehun, Emily Bertolin, Lea Theriault, Olivia Doirin, Jenna Alqdah, Ellie Youden, Raphaelle LeBlanc and Sophia Makarov.
In the provincial final, the Fredericton Black Kats (1st, Southwest) thrashed the Moncton Purple Knights (1st, Northeast) 83-47 to capture their 26th provincial title. The Black Kats led 17-13, 48-19 and 67-36 at the quarters. Southwest player of the year Kristen Taylor paced the Black Kats with 21 on 8-19 from the floor, 3-8 from the arc, 2-3 from the line, 8 boards, 2 assists and 5 steals. Eavan McLaughlin added 7-17 from the floor, 3-7 from the arc, 7 boards, 2 assists and 3 steals. Addie Mombourquette notched 16 on 5-18 from the floor, 1-5 from the arc, 5-8 from the line, 6 boards and 3 steals. Mattea Hansen scored 8 on 3-5 from the floor, 2-2 from the arc and 4 boards. Charlee Connors added 6 on 2-4 from the floor, 0-1 from the arc, 2-2 from the line and 2 steals. Bella Quinn scored 4 on 1-8 from the floor, 1-4 from the arc, 2-2 from the line, 4 boards, 4 assists and 4 steals. Brooke Russell notched 4 on 2-4 from the floor, 0-1 from the arc and 3 boards. Paige LeBlanc scored 3 on 1-8 from the floor, 1-7 from the arc and 2 boards. Bridget Lange added 2 on 1-1 from the floor and 2 steals. Hicks nabbed 3 boards, dished 3 assists and pilfered 2 balls. Maxwell nabbed 5 boards. The Black Kats hit 30-90 from the floor, 11-37 (.297) from the arc and 12-18 from the line, while garnering 63 boards, including 17 on the offensive glass, 12 fouls, 17 assists, 16 turnovers, 2 blocks and 26 steals. Brooke Watson paced the Purple Knights with 16 on 6-14 from the floor, 0-1 from the arc, 4-4 from the line, 12 boards and 2 assists. Northeast player of the year Lindsay Black added 16 on 6-26 from the floor, 0-6 from the arc, 4-7 from the line, 4 boards and 3 steals. Rachel Beach notched 6 on 2-9 from the floor, 2-2 from the line and 4 boards. Samia Amadou scored 4 on 2-5 from the floor and 5 boards. Ella Devarennes added 3 on 1-6 from the floor, 1-3 from the arc and 7 boards. Emma Dunnett scored 2 on 1-5 from the floor, while Kennedy Apthorp, Rebecca Mills, Emily Hamilton and Mia Almen were scoreless. The Purple Knights hit 18-66 (.273) from the floor, 1-10 from the arc and 10-10 from the line, while garnering 53 boards, including 7 on the offensive glass, 12 fouls, 4 assists, 35 turnovers, 3 blocks and 6 steals.
